A member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aare Hon. Tolu Bankole, has urged party members and supporters in Osun State to unite behind the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s election.
Bankole, in a statement issued on Thursday, described Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, as the “clear choice” for the state, urging APC members across the 30 local government areas to mobilise voters and ensure his victory.
He said the party needed total commitment, mobilisation and unity in the final hours of the campaign, stressing that internal differences must give way to a collective effort to win the election.
According to him, “No blackmail, gang-up, or intimidation can stop AMBO from becoming the next governor of Osun State.”
Bankole said the electorate had made up their minds to vote for competence, continuity and a better future, urging party supporters to remain focused until the final votes were cast.
“Keep your eyes on the gold medal, there is no silver medal in politics. This is a contest we must win, and we will win it. Victory is sure, the gold medal is closer to us, let’s bring it home now,” he said.
The APC chieftain, however, urged party members to pursue victory peacefully, warning against violence or actions capable of undermining the credibility of the election.
He said the election was a “must win professionally”, adding that APC supporters should protect their votes while cooperating with security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible process.
“This election is a must win professionally. We must do it the right way. No violence, no war,” Bankole said.
He also called on party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to close ranks, saying divisions within the party at the critical stage of the election could undermine its chances.
“All stakeholders must close rank and work together with no story, no excuse. Division at this point is a luxury we cannot afford,” he said.
Bankole said every ward, local government and party leader had a role to play in delivering victory for the APC, adding that the party’s national leadership remained committed to the Osun governorship bid.
“The All Progressives Congress at the national level is totally committed to ensure the victory of AMBO, our candidate in this election. No compromise, no sell out, APC or nothing!” he declared.
He maintained that the APC candidate represented a brighter future for Osun, urging voters to come out in large numbers on Saturday and support the party.
“The light is brighter, and the future is better with AMBO,” Bankole said.
He further urged APC supporters to vote and defend their mandate peacefully, saying victory would pave the way for progress and development in the state.
