Kogi Assembly Hails Abdullahi’s Renewable Energy, Youth Empowerment Efforts

The Kogi State House of Assembly has commended the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, for his contributions to renewable energy development and human capital development in the state.

The commendation was contained in House Resolution 080 of the 8th Assembly (2026), adopted during the House’s plenary on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The resolution followed the Assembly’s consideration of Abdullahi’s contributions to Kogi State, particularly his role in facilitating the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College, Kogi State (BARECKS).

The lawmakers said his interventions demonstrated strategic leadership and commitment to using renewable energy and other initiatives to create opportunities and improve the lives of residents.

The Assembly also acknowledged initiatives linked to the renewable energy college, empowerment programmes for persons living with disabilities, financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ICT training, laptop distribution and scholarships for students at primary, secondary, tertiary and postgraduate levels.

It further cited the provision of solar-powered motorised boreholes as part of the interventions that have contributed to community development across the state.

According to the lawmakers, the initiatives represent significant investments in human development and public service, with the potential to create sustainable opportunities for communities.

The Assembly directed that a letter of commendation be issued to Abdullahi in recognition of his vision, dedication, commitment, humility and selfless contributions to nation building.

The House said the interventions also aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the efforts of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to promote renewable energy innovation, green-energy entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

The Clerk of the House and Head of Legislative Service, Alhaji Chogudo S. Ahmed, conveyed the Assembly’s commendation and called for sustained action and collaboration to further improve the quality of life of the people.

The resolution, formally adopted on August 6, further underscored the growing importance of renewable energy, skills development, education and sustainable community interventions to Kogi’s socio-economic development.
