Sagamu Faces Power Disruption as TCN Begins Transformer Maintenance

Residents and businesses in Sagamu, Ogun State, are set to experience temporary power disruption as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at its Sagamu Transmission Substation.

The maintenance exercise, which started on Thursday, September 3, will continue on Friday, September 4, with work scheduled for seven hours each day, from 10am to 5pm.

TCN said its engineers are carrying out routine maintenance on the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV transformers at the substation as part of efforts to improve equipment performance and ensure a more reliable electricity supply.

The company explained that the exercise would affect the ability of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to receive power from the affected transformers during the maintenance period.

On Thursday, customers connected to the REAL and Sagamu feeders are expected to experience the impact of the work as TCN carries out maintenance on T1.

The disruption will shift to other customers on Friday when maintenance continues on T2. Those affected include customers supplied through CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock feeders.

TCN said the maintenance is necessary to keep the transformers in good operating condition and reduce the likelihood of equipment faults.

The company appealed to electricity consumers in the affected areas to bear with the temporary disruption while the work lasts.

“TCN apologises for the inconveniences this exercise may cause and solicits the understanding of customers affected,” the company said.

The maintenance forms part of TCN’s routine efforts to service its transmission infrastructure and improve the stability and reliability of electricity delivered to distribution companies.
