Davido, Tems, Phyno Lead Nigerian Winners at AFRIMMA 2026

Nigerian music stars dominated several categories at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), held in Dallas, Texas.

Davido, Tems, Phyno and other Nigerian entertainers emerged among the major winners at the ceremony on September 12.

The official results, updated on Tuesday, recognised artistes and entertainers across Africa and the diaspora in 41 categories.

Davido claimed Album of the Year with his project, 5ive, while Tems won Best Female West Africa.

Ruger also took home the Best Male West Africa award, while Phyno won Best Male Rap Act.

Mercy Chinwo secured the Best Gospel award, adding another major Nigerian success to the ceremony.

Other Nigerian winners included Fola, who won Best Newcomer, and DJ Tunez, who claimed Best DJ Africa.

Patoranking won Best Male Reggae/Dancehall, while comedian Real Warri Pikin emerged as Best Comedian.

Footballer Victor Osimhen also received the Athlete of the Year award.

Victony won the AFRIMMA Fans Choice Award, while Director Pink took Best Video Director.

Music producer London won Music Producer of the Year, and Nasty Blaq emerged as Best Influencer.

Uche Montana won Best Actor/Actress, while Kwate took Best African USA-Based Artist.

DJ Prince also won Best African DJ USA.

Beyond Nigeria, Fally Ipupa secured the prestigious Artist of the Year award.

He also received the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award, further highlighting his influence across African music markets.

Bnxn and Sarz won Song of the Year, while Timaya received the Timeless Impact Award.

Diamond Platnumz and Juma Jux won Best Collaboration, while Juma Jux also secured the AFRIMMA Music Without Borders Award.

Eno Barony won Best Female Rap Act, while Shenseea claimed Best Female Reggae/Dancehall.

Dope Nation won Best African Group, while Ghetto Kids took Best African Dancer.

Marioo and Nikita Kering won the Best Male and Female East Africa categories respectively.

Gerilson Israel won Best Male Central Africa and Best Lusophone, while Emma’a took Best Female Central Africa.

DJ Maphorisa won Best Male Southern Africa, with Tyla taking the female category.

In North Africa, DJ Snake won Best Male North Africa, while Latifa claimed the female award.

Big Smart won Best Hypeman, while Esther Mathew Tonlagha received the Community Impact Award.

Innoss’ B emerged as Best Francophone, while Florito won the AFRIMMA Rising Star award.

Didi B secured the Francophone Viewers Choice Award, completing the list of winners at the 2026 ceremony.

The awards brought together artistes and entertainers from different parts of Africa and the diaspora.

Nigeria’s strong showing reflected the country’s continued presence across several of AFRIMMA’s major award categories.
