On Tuesday morning, Fresh FM 106.9 FM, a privately owned radio broadcast station in Ado, Ekiti State, banned the airing of songs by Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, from the station till further notice.
The statement was disclosed by the radio station on its Instagram handle (@freshfm1069adoekiti) and signed by Oluwaseunfunmi Williams, the Head of Production and Music Content.
The ban was due to the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, popularly known as MohBad and criticism surrounding Naira Marley.
Also, a radio broadcast station, Splash FM 105.5 Ibadan, Oyo state has banned the songs by Naira Marley earlier on Monday.
Late Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley at Marlian Records, died at the age of 27 last Tuesday.
“Following the public outcry from the general public trialing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimization from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian records), Fresh 106.9 fm has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records,” it said.
