The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has paid N9.47 billion in outstanding Back-End Computation (BEC) arrears to 3,958 PHCN pensioners under the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (DBS).

The latest payment represents the remaining 50 per cent of the arrears owed to the affected pensioners.

PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, disclosed this in a statement, saying the payment had completed the settlement of the BEC arrears.

The directorate had paid N9.48 billion to the same group in June 2026 as the first 50 per cent tranche.

With the latest disbursement, PTAD has now paid a total of N18.96 billion to settle the outstanding arrears.

The development brings to a close a major outstanding pension liability involving the affected former Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) workers.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, said the directorate would continue to ensure that eligible DBS pensioners receive all entitlements due to them.

She said the Federal Government remains committed to protecting the welfare and dignity of pensioners who served the country during their productive years.

Odunaiya added that PTAD would continue to address outstanding pension liabilities as part of efforts to provide a more secure retirement for beneficiaries.

She said the years of sacrifice and service by Nigeria’s senior citizens deserved recognition, adding that their welfare remained important to the administration.

The latest payment, according to PTAD, reflects the government’s continued efforts to resolve outstanding pension obligations under the DBS.

The directorate said it would sustain measures aimed at ensuring that eligible pensioners receive their legitimate benefits without further delays.
