2027: NDC UK Leaders Meet Dickson, Renew Commitment to Party

Leaders of the United Kingdom chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC-UK) have renewed their commitment to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commitment followed a meeting between the chapter’s executive committee and the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, in London on Saturday.

The meeting took place at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel and brought together NDC-UK leaders, party supporters and representatives of the Nigerian community from across Great Britain and Ireland.

According to a statement signed by the NDC-UK Publicity Secretary, Boniokoye Imegwu, the meeting focused on developments within the party, its growth since formation and preparations for the 2027 elections.

Dickson, a former Bayelsa State governor, was in London while returning to Nigeria from the Netherlands.

He had travelled to the Netherlands to inaugurate the NDC chapter in that country.

During the meeting, the national leader expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and presidential ticket.

He also called on institutions and officials responsible for conducting the elections to uphold integrity and fairness throughout the electoral process.

Dickson urged election officials to approach their responsibilities with a sense of patriotism and commitment to a credible process.

The NDC-UK Country Chairman, Princewill Urum, thanked Dickson for his leadership and reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to advancing the party’s programmes.

Urum said the UK chapter would continue to support efforts aimed at expanding the party’s activities and strengthening its presence among Nigerians in the diaspora.

The meeting also attracted the leader of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), a Nigerian and global political network.

The COPDEM leader commended the direction of the NDC and pledged the organisation’s available resources and personnel to initiatives promoting democratic participation and a credible electoral process.

Dickson further disclosed plans to return to the United Kingdom later this year with the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other senior party officials.

He said the planned visit would feature the formal launch of the NDC-UK chapter.

The meeting ended with participants reaffirming their commitment to the expansion of the party and its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
