Hon. Tolu Bankole Urges Reflection, Unity, as Ramadan Kicks off

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, a member of the APC National Working Committee, Aare (Hon.) Tolu Bankole, extends heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and around the world.

In his message, Bankole highlights the significance of the sacred month as a period of profound spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion to Almighty Allah.

“Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time when the gates of mercy are opened, and the faithful engage in fasting, prayers, and acts of charity,” Bankole stated.

He referenced the Qur’an, reminding believers of Allah’s command in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183), which states, “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”

The APC Chieftain further explained that this holy month is an opportunity to “purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and renew our commitment to righteousness, justice, and service to humanity.”

Bankole emphasized the importance of virtues such as patience, love, and kindness, particularly by reaching out to the less privileged in society.

In encouraging the Muslim community, Bankole urged believers to draw inspiration from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who stressed the values of selflessness, humility, and compassion.

“Let us use this time to seek Allah’s guidance, pray for the peace, unity, and progress of our dear nation, and promote harmony among people of different faiths,” he added.

Reflecting on the government’s role during this period, Bankole affirmed the commitment of the APC-led administration to fostering an inclusive society.

“Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or abilities, can thrive,” he said, reiterating his dedication as a disability rights advocate to advancing policies that empower Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and all Nigerians.

Closing his statement, he prayed, “May Almighty Allah accept our fasts, answer our prayers, and grant us the strength to complete this Ramadan with renewed faith and blessings.”
