The Federal Road Safety Corps has approved a sweeping redeployment of 162 senior officers in a major restructuring aimed at strengthening operations, improving discipline and enhancing road safety outcomes across the country.

The shake-up, approved by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, includes the appointment of four new Zonal Commanding Officers and the redeployment of Sector Commanders to key states such as the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers, Kaduna, Bauchi, Imo, Benue, Yobe, Ogun, Delta, Osun, Kogi, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer at the national headquarters in Abuja, Agboola Olundegun.

The statement described the exercise as a strategic move to reinforce operational efficiency and reposition the Corps for better service delivery nationwide.

As part of the restructuring, the Corps Marshal also approved the appointment of a new spokesperson, with Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri elevated to head the Corps Public Education Office.

The appointment, according to the statement, is expected to drive “a more aggressive, responsive, and impactful public communication strategy” for the Corps.

The newly appointed Zonal Commanding Officers are ACM C.Z. Mathew (RS5HQ Benin), ACM A.L.O. Ruk (RS9HQ Enugu), ACM B.S. Akande (RS10HQ Sokoto) and ACM Leye Adegboyega (RS12HQ Bauchi), who are expected to provide leadership across their respective zones.

In the same vein, several Corps Commanders have been redeployed as Sector Commanders to strengthen field operations. Among them are AP Longkam (Kaduna), O Ogunjobi (Ogun), VA Kayode-Oni (Benue), PE Bedford (Edo), CE Edem (Delta), FA Ajatta (Rivers), FM Kalu (Akwa Ibom), SO Ordu (Bayelsa) and T. Iliyasu (FCT).

Others include KB Kazeem (Kwara), LL Fagge (Kogi), ON Okoro (Imo), ST Adebayo (Osun), SD Kehinde (Oyo), I Baba (Yobe) and CS Luka (Bauchi).

The Corps Marshal said the postings were based on merit, experience and the demands of national service.

“The postings were meticulously guided by competence, track record, and the exigencies of national service. We will continue to deploy our best hands to positions where their impact will be most felt,” Mohammed said.

He charged the newly appointed officers to bring renewed energy and professionalism to their duties, stressing the need for a results-driven approach in tackling road safety challenges.

Mohammed also reiterated the Corps’ commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and reducing avoidable road crashes across the country.

The FRSC has in recent years undertaken periodic redeployments as part of broader reforms aimed at improving operational effectiveness, public communication and overall service delivery.
