Customs Begins Final Phase of 2025 Recruitment Screening

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced the final phase of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing documentation, physical fitness assessments and medical screening in Abuja.

The two-week exercise began on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, and will end on September 19.

The exercise covers candidates shortlisted for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

To manage the large number of applicants and avoid congestion, the NCS said candidates were being screened in batches based on the alphabetical order of their states of origin.

The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, urged candidates to maintain discipline and comply with the guidelines throughout the exercise.

Representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, he said candidates were being assessed not only on their physical fitness but also on their character and professional conduct.

“Beyond physical requirements, your attitude, discipline and conduct are critical factors in deciding who ultimately joins the Service,” Onyeka said.

He congratulated the candidates for reaching the final stage and urged them to remain orderly during the screening.

The NCS said it was working with the Customs Police and other relevant units to ensure the integrity and security of the recruitment process.

The Commandant, Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, said administrative measures and collaboration among relevant agencies had helped streamline the exercise.

According to him, the arrangements at the centre were designed to ensure an orderly and efficient process.

“Everything happening here reflects the policy vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which emphasised continuous operational improvement, collaboration and innovation,” Gaura said.

He described the exercise as seamless and hitch-free, adding that there had been no casualties at the centre.

The screening of candidates for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs cadre is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, September 10, while the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue with their assessments until September 19.

The NCS urged candidates to adhere strictly to instructions and maintain proper conduct throughout the exercise.
