Ondo Businessman Dies By Suicide After Releasing Final Video

Residents of Ondo Town in Ondo State have been thrown into mourning following the death of a prominent businessman, Akinbolusere Kayode, owner of the popular Esther Estate.

Kayode reportedly died by suicide on Thursday, October 29, 2026, shortly after releasing an emotional video in which he spoke about challenges confronting his business.

The video, recorded in selfie mode inside a vehicle, circulated widely on social media, drawing reactions from residents and business associates.

In the footage, the businessman spoke about operational difficulties, particularly the breakdown of three critical machines, which he said had severely affected his business and livelihood.

He also absolved his wife of any responsibility for his predicament, describing her as a supportive partner with whom he built the business from humble beginnings.

Kayode disclosed that he had prepared a will, leaving his properties and other assets to his wife and their three children.

“My name is Akinbolusere Kayode. I am recording this video to inform the public that I have prepared my Will regarding all my properties. Nobody forced me to do this, and I am not under any duress,” he said.

He attributed his difficulties to his own decisions, saying his excitement over the progress of his business had affected his judgment.

“I caused my own problems and misfortunes through over-excitement. Everything was going smoothly until my euphoria went beyond normal limits,” he stated.

The businessman also praised his wife, describing her as a pillar of support and appealing to the public not to blame her for his circumstances.

“My wife is a good woman and a pillar of support; she is the kind of woman every man prays to have,” he said.

He repeatedly maintained that he made the recording voluntarily and wanted it to serve as a record of his decisions.

His death has left family members, residents and business associates in grief, particularly following the circulation of the video.

The police are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
