Transfer: Arsenal prepare weighty bid to rival Chelsea for Super Eagles striker

English Premier League side, Arsenal, are preparing an end of the season offer to rival Chelsea for Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

Both teams are on ironic paths in the Premier League this season, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal vying up top for the title, while Mauricio Pochetino’s Chelsea are languishing in the middle of the table.

Their woes, though similar, has been the absence of goals from a major attacking outlet. Gabriel Jesus has not been as efficient as the Arsenal expected and Nicolas Jackson just can’t find the back of the net for Chelsea.

Napoli forward, Osimhen has been widely tipped to join Chelsea as the club prepare to make an official summer bid for the CAF Player of the Year.

According to a report published by The Mirror, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are preparing to go all in for the 25-year-old who has a €130m release clause in his new contract which expires in 2026.

With Chelsea reported to be leading the race to sign the former Lille striker, Osimhen’s preference is not yet known. Arsenal are also looking at other options like Brentford’s Ivan Toney, should Osimhen’s deal prove futile.

Osimhen is currently on in duty with Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 tournament hosted in Ivory Coast.
