We are set to drive Nigeria into global tech talent hub-NITDA DG
The Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi, has reaffirmed that the agency is set to drive Nigeria’s digital landscape into a global tech talent hub, nurturing innovation and repositioning the country in the technology sector.
He said this at the Texcellence Conference 2023 organised by CWG Plc in Lagos, titled: ‘innovating for the future.’
The DG said digital technology has created hubs, transformed lives and revolutionised the way people work. He pleaded to the tech industry to look at the traditional industries and future industries in innovating technology space.
“We need to innovate our life’s today and the future we want to be. It is the technology that is inspiring us to do better and more in any sector,” he stated.
He added that technology is helping people use their businesses to personalise everything and make it easier to interact with customers.
“Technology will help to scale the future we have ahead of us and technology helps to enhance productivity.
“We are set to help over three million Nigerians in the next four years. How we can train people to create jobs for themselves, to encourage young talents to achieve their goals in technology services.”
Abdullahi emphasised the importance of building trust and collaboration between the government and the tech ecosystem. He believes that a government-ecosystem partnership can drive positive change.
Speaking at the Event, chief operating officer, CWG, Afolabi Sobande, said CWG takes pride as the leading technology company provider in Nigeria
He said this is the little way the company can contribute to the society and Nigeria technology space bringing industry experts together to discuss how to move the country forward and the industry forward.
Shobande added that the main aim of the conference is to create awareness for innovation, ensuring we speak about it so we should understand the importance of innovation, he said.
Group Chief Executive Officer of CWG, Adewale Ayeyipo, noted while delivering his address that there is need for stakeholders in the industry to talk, bringing in the private sector where you see a lot of startups and the government where you find the regulators.
