33-year-old butcher stabs wife to death for hiding her phone

The operatives of Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Abubakar, for allegedly stabbing his 25-year-old wife, Hajara Sa’adu.

Abubakar, a resident of Sabon Gari-Futy in Girei Local Government Area, reportedly used a kitchen knife to repeatedly stab his wife in the back, resulting in her death.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 8, around 4:30 am, following an argument that his wife was hiding her phone.

According to a statement issued by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police spokesperson, Abubakar brutally attacked his wife, leaving her in a pool of blood.

SP Nguroje stated that the suspect was arrested after a report was made by the deceased’s father.

During the preliminary investigation, material evidence was discovered at the crime scene, which the suspect used in committing the crime.

The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and expressed regret.

CP Dankombo Morris, the Commissioner of Police, expressed disappointment over the incident and assured that the command would ensure the culprit is prosecuted.

“Meanwhile, as part of the command’s effort in tackling criminal activities in the state, the CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID to carry out thorough investigation and ensure law takes its course,” he added.

SP Nguroje urged the general public to report individuals displaying suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods to the police.
