Fulani Youths Clash over Girlfriend in Abuja

A violent altercation has erupted in Katampe, FCT Abuja during the ongoing Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, leading to injuries among several Fulani youths.
The confrontation was reportedly sparked by a dispute over girlfriends, with the involved parties using dangerous weapons.
This was made known by a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his X handle, who disclosed that the incident resulted in the hospitalization of two individuals.

Makama, quoting eyewitnesses, said the fight took place at approximately 1930hrs and quickly escalated, causing a disturbance among the public.
“Upon receiving the distress call, police patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. The situation was brought under control, and the youths involved fled into the nearby bush.
“The two injured victims, Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed, both males from Ruga Katampe, were rushed to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for medical attention.
“It was reported that such violent altercations have become a recurring issue on the second day of major celebrations among Fulani youths in the area,” Makama said.
The security expert further added that the Sarkin Fulani and Ardo of the community have been invited to a meeting with Fulani stakeholders scheduled for April 1.
