APC Hits Back at ADC, PDP Governors Over ‘Baseless Attacks’
•Says Recent By-election Shows Nigerians Back Tinubu’s Agenda
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday fired back at opposition parties, accusing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of “crass opportunism” in its reaction to the Malumfashi killings in Katsina State, and dismissing recent comments by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors as “morbidly comical” and a betrayal of citizens under their watch.
In a statement signed on Monday, by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the ADC’s comments over the tragic killings as “grossly insensitive and crassly opportunistic.”
“It is a thing of national tragedy when lives of innocent and law-abiding citizens are cut down by forces of evil and terror. It is despicable and must be condemned by all Nigerians,” the APC said.
The party added that events of such magnitude should unite Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation rather than being turned into political fodder.
Morka faulted the ADC for suggesting that President Bola Tinubu should remain grounded in the country in anticipation of terror attacks, describing the idea as “remarkably lame and senseless” and evidence that the party had “no understanding of government and its workings.”
“The ADC’s unproductive indulgence in peddling false narratives and obscene propaganda is exactly the reason for their miserable showing in the just concluded bye-elections in the country, turning up zero scores everywhere,” the statement read.
APC maintained that President Tinubu’s international engagements were critical for attracting foreign investments, strengthening security partnerships, and securing the military support necessary to combat terror and other crimes.
The ruling party cited the recent Nigeria-Chad raids that led to the capture of Boko Haram founder’s son and two Ansaru leaders as proof of effective global cooperation.
The APC Spokesperson insisted that Tinubu’s administration had consistently demonstrated unflinching commitment to the safety and security of every Nigerian. He noted new deployments of special forces, a review of the National Security Strategy, increased defence spending, and enhanced regional partnerships.
“The APC remains focused on delivering solutions, and will not be distracted by mischievous political theatrics that is the staple of chatterbox ADC,” the statement concluded.
Turning its fire on the PDP Governors, the APC in separate statement dismissed their Zamfara meeting communiqué as “odiferous hypocrisy,” saying it was laughable that leaders of a party it described as “savagely crippled by intractable crisis” would accuse the ruling party of lacking vision and agenda.
“It is morbidly comical for the Governors of the PDP, a party in deep comatose, to be making statements that only aptly describe its own doomed fate, now and in the lead up to 2027,” APC said.
Morka pointed to APC’s dominant victory in the just-concluded bye-elections as evidence of popular support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, noting that APC candidates prevailed even in states controlled by the opposition.
“It is infantile and irresponsible for PDP Governors to hail democracy where they won in the bye-election and decry democracy everywhere they lost,” the statement added.
It stressed that electoral credibility cannot be measured by the PDP’s fortunes.
APC further accused PDP Governors of failing in their core responsibilities despite receiving unprecedented federal allocations under Tinubu.
“Even with federal revenue allocation to state governments that has more than doubled under this President of Progress, distributing N2 trillion as of July 2025, the highest ever allocated by any government in history, the PDP Governors have continued to fail their citizens with disgracefully dismal performance,” Morka stated.
The party urged Nigerians to “ignore empty and misleading rhetorics” of the opposition, stressing that the electorate know the Party that is working assiduously for renewed hope and national renewal.
“President Tinubu has paved a new and clear path of prosperity for our country and shall not stumble on mischievous distractions fashioned by the PDP and its floundering Governors,” APC declared.
