The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed receipt of a formal petition from Africa’s richest businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.

The confirmation was contained in a statement signed on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, by the ICPC Spokesperson, John Okor Odey.

According to the statement, the petition was submitted to the Commission on Tuesday through Dangote’s lawyer, and the anti-graft agency assured that the allegations would be thoroughly examined.

“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday 16th December, 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed,” the statement read.

It added: “The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated.”

The confirmation follows earlier reports that Dangote had petitioned the ICPC, accusing the NMDPRA boss of corruption and financial impropriety, and calling for his arrest, investigation and prosecution.

In the earlier petition, submitted through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja (SAN), Dangote alleged that Ahmed was living far above his lawful means as a public servant, citing expenditures allegedly exceeding $7 million on the education of his four children in different schools in Switzerland, paid upfront for a period of six years.

Dangote argued that Ahmed had spent his entire adult working life in Nigeria’s public sector and that his cumulative earnings over the years could not reasonably amount to such a sum.

The industrialist further accused the NMDPRA chief of allegedly using the instrumentality of the regulatory authority to embezzle and divert public funds for personal gain and private interests, actions he claimed were to the detriment of the Nigerian people and had triggered protests by various groups in recent times.

Dangote also pledged in the petition to make himself available to provide evidence to substantiate his allegations of corrupt enrichment and abuse of office against the NMDPRA boss.
