Tinubu Praises Wike as APC Dominates FCT Poll

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements that translated into electoral gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress in the FCT area council elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission conducted elections on Saturday across the six area councils of the FCT. By-elections were also held in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as in Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
The APC recorded a strong performance in the polls, winning most of the contested positions.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu congratulated the winners and lauded stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
According to Onanuga, “President Tinubu commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).”
The President also congratulated party leaders and members across affected states. “The President congratulates the APC national leadership, Kano and Rivers leaderships, and all members of the party on the victories at the polls,” the statement said.
Tinubu further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and voters for ensuring a peaceful and successful exercise.
“President Tinubu lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections,” Onanuga stated.
He also acknowledged the conduct of candidates who participated in the elections. “He further commends the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.”
The President urged those elected to serve with humility and patriotism, describing their mandates as a sacred trust from the people.
While affirming that the successful conduct of the elections strengthens democratic culture and institutions in the country, Tinubu called on INEC to improve on its performance.
He urged the electoral umpire “to continue improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.”
