Yilwatda, Basiru Re-Emerge as APC Chairman, Secretary

APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has been returned as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Surajudeen Basiru emerged as the party’s National Secretary.

The duo were announced at the party’s 4th Elective National Convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja on Friday night.

Their emergence, alongside other officials, was by consensus, according to the Convention Election Committee.

Top government officials and party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas, were in attendance.

The convention, themed “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” was organised by a planning committee led by Aminu Bello Masari and Anyim Pius Anyim.

Addressing party members, Tinubu praised the unity within the APC since 2023, describing the convention as an important moment for both the party and the country.

“Today, I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude, pride, and hope,” he said. “This convention is not just a gathering, but a defining moment in our democratic journey. It gives us the chance to renew our bond, strengthen our resolve, and recommit to the ideals that brought us together.”

He added that the theme of the convention highlights the need for unity, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved when members work together.

The APC leadership said the exercise is part of efforts to reposition the party and strengthen its internal structure ahead of future political activities.
