A dramatic scene unfolded on Thursday at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja when a man stormed the premises, demanding compensation for what he described as personal sacrifices made during the party’s 2023 general election campaign.

The man, who was seen wearing an APC-branded shirt, carried a placard boldly inscribed “Reward me or kill me” as he paced the entrance of the secretariat under daylight, attracting attention from security operatives and passersby.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the protester alleged that he suffered severe personal losses while working for the party, including selling his house to finance his involvement in campaign activities.

“I sold my house because of the work I did for APC,” he said in the footage, adding that he had been left stranded without any form of compensation after the elections.

The visibly distressed man claimed his financial situation had deteriorated to the point where he could no longer cater for his children’s education.

“I cannot take care of my children anymore. I cannot pay their school fees,” he said, insisting that his sacrifices for the party had been ignored.

He further alleged that he had been threatened by a security official when he attempted to press his demands, a claim that could not be independently verified.

The protester also made a startling claim that, in his desperation, he had left his children with security personnel at the party secretariat, saying he was no longer able to provide for them.

Despite his repeated calls for attention, no APC official reportedly came out to address him during the incident, according to the video footage.

The placard he carried read in full: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”

Reactions on social media have been mixed, with some users expressing concern over his mental and financial state, while others criticised his expectation of personal reward for political participation.

As of the time of filing this report, the All Progressives Congress had yet to issue any official statement on the incident.
