The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and presented him with a brand new car.

The actor announced the honour in a Facebook post on Thursday night, expressing gratitude to the monarch for what he described as a warm reception and generous gesture towards him and his wife, Afolashade Omiyinka, popularly known as Luminee.

Baba Ijesha disclosed that the traditional ruler bestowed on him the title of Baba Awada Konge Oduwa, describing the recognition as a memorable moment in his life.

He thanked the Ooni for the honour and the gifts, saying he and his wife were deeply appreciative of the royal hospitality extended to them.

The recognition comes just weeks after the actor and Luminee welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named King Kagar Omiyinka.

The couple had announced the birth of their son on social media, with Baba Ijesha describing the child as a blessing to the family and expressing gratitude to God.

The latest honour marks another significant milestone for the actor following his release from prison in November 2025.

Baba Ijesha was convicted in July 2022 for sexually assaulting a minor and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. He, however, regained his freedom after serving more than three years behind bars.

Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has announced her conversion from Islam to Christianity, saying she has decided to dedicate her life to Jesus Christ after recovering from a prolonged illness.

The actress said she had battled a mysterious ailment for nine years before experiencing what she described as divine healing through the ministry of Queen Belemzy Ministries, also known as the School of Power.

Abubakar disclosed that she would publicly share her testimony during the ministry’s Holy Ghost Revival programme scheduled to hold on Saturday at Merit House in Maitama, Abuja.

According to her, the event will provide an opportunity to recount her health challenges, recovery and renewed Christian faith.

“I’m a brand-new person now. I have given my life to Christ. I want to serve God because He has helped me,” she said.

The actress said she hopes her testimony will inspire others facing difficult circumstances to remain hopeful.
