Annual Maintenance: TCN Announces Power Disruption in Parts of Kogi, Ondo, Edo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has announced a temporary power disruption in parts of Kogi, Ondo and Edo states on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The company said the disruption would result from its annual preventive maintenance at the 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation.

In a statement signed by TCN management on Tuesday, the maintenance will run from 9am to 4pm.

The exercise will cover a 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and other equipment at the substation.

TCN said the maintenance remains necessary to improve the reliability of the transmission facility and prevent avoidable faults.

As a result, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, will be unable to receive power for customers in several areas.

The affected locations include Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo and Okene Town.

Others are Ayere, Kabba and surrounding communities.

The disruption will also affect customers supplied by Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.

Areas under BEDC affected by the maintenance include Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company and West African Fertilizer Company.

Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo and Uluoke are also listed among the affected locations.

Other areas include Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara and Oka.

TCN said electricity supply would resume in the affected areas after engineers complete the maintenance work.

The company apologised to electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the planned outage.

It also appealed for the cooperation and understanding of affected customers during the maintenance period.

The exercise forms part of TCN’s routine efforts to maintain key transmission assets and sustain reliable electricity supply across the country.
