The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have renewed their commitment to closer collaboration in tackling security challenges and promoting national stability.

The pledge was made during a strategic meeting between the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, at the Customs Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

The engagement focused on strengthening inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing, and coordinated operations aimed at addressing emerging security threats across the country.

Receiving the police chief, Adeniyi congratulated Disu on his appointment and expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the Force through the country’s evolving security landscape.

He stressed that effective security management requires strong partnerships among relevant agencies, noting that no single institution can successfully confront the complex threats facing the nation.

“The NCS stands with the NPF in these challenging times. We will continue to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across the country. Together, we can strengthen the safety and stability of our nation,” Adeniyi said.

The Customs boss added that sustained collaboration between the two agencies would improve operational efficiency and enhance their ability to respond swiftly to security concerns.

He noted that intelligence-driven cooperation remains critical to combating crimes such as smuggling, trafficking, organised criminal activities, and other threats to national security.

In his remarks, Disu described the visit as an opportunity to consolidate the longstanding partnership between the Police and Customs.

He commended the leadership of the NCS and reaffirmed the Police Force’s readiness to work closely with Customs in advancing the country’s security objectives.

“The purpose of this visit is to deepen our relationship and reaffirm that you have a reliable partner in the NPF. Sustained collaboration among our personnel will enhance our collective efforts in addressing security challenges,” the IGP said.

According to him, stronger synergy among security agencies is essential for improving intelligence gathering, joint operations, and overall effectiveness in maintaining law and order.

The meeting also provided a platform for both organisations to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore new strategies for enhancing cooperation in the protection of lives, property, and national assets.

The renewed commitment comes amid ongoing efforts by security institutions to strengthen coordination and improve responses to emerging security threats across the country.
