APC Fixes Tuesday to Inaugurate Osun Governorship Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Tuesday, July 28, for the inauguration of its National Campaign Council and sub-committees ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

The party said the inauguration would take place at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, at 12 noon as it intensifies preparations for the poll.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who said the composition of the campaign council was conveyed in a notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

According to the statement, the National Campaign Council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The council will also have the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as co-chairmen.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as deputy chairman, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will function as secretary of the council.

The APC said the campaign council brings together prominent party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other stakeholders from across the country.

According to the party, the council is expected to coordinate activities aimed at securing victory for the APC in the Osun governorship election.

To support its operations, the party also constituted specialised sub-committees to oversee critical aspects of the campaign.

The committees cover election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement and mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, women’s mobilisation, and secretariat functions.

“The inauguration of the council and the various sub-committees marks the formal commencement of the party’s national campaign structure for the Osun governorship election,” Morka said.
