Police Raid Ogun Baby Factory, Rescue Pregnant Women, Children

Police operatives in Ogun State have raided a suspected baby factory in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting five suspects allegedly linked to child trafficking and illegal adoption.

The operation was among a series of arrests, rescues and recoveries recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across several states, according to the state-by-state executive summary of operational successes for August 25, 2026, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

The Ogun operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected baby factory, where police operatives moved in and rescued the six victims.

The five suspects arrested during the raid are being investigated over alleged child trafficking, illegal adoption and related offences.

Police said investigations were also ongoing to establish the whereabouts of a newborn baby whose location remained unknown as of the time of the report.

Additional persons of interest had been invited for questioning as detectives worked to establish the full network behind the alleged operation.

The case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran.

The operation came alongside a separate police success in Borno State, where seven people abducted along the Dikwa-Gamboru Road were rescued following sustained operational pressure and intelligence-led follow-up operations.

The police said two of the victims managed to escape from their abductors, while security teams rescued the remaining five.

The rescued victims were being debriefed, with their statements obtained to assist investigations and efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

In Akwa Ibom State, five suspected armed robbers were arrested at their hideout by operatives of the Eagle Response Team following investigations into an armed robbery.

The suspects were reportedly identified through CCTV footage and subsequently confessed to the alleged crime.

Two locally made pistols and two shirts allegedly worn during the operation were recovered as exhibits.

In Enugu State, police operatives acting on intelligence raided a suspected criminal hideout at Akpaoga Nike and arrested a female suspect.

A fabricated firearm and several ATM cards were recovered from the location, while efforts continued to arrest an accomplice who remained at large.

Two suspected motorcycle robbers were also arrested in Kano State by operatives attached to the Ungogo Division.

The police recovered an Ash-coloured Haojue motorcycle allegedly stolen during the robbery, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend another member of the gang.

In Cross River State, detectives arrested a suspect allegedly connected to the murder of a 42-year-old woman.

The suspect was tracked and arrested after fleeing the area and reportedly confessed to dumping the victim’s body with the assistance of accomplices.

Police said efforts were continuing to apprehend the other suspects allegedly involved in the killing.

Osun State recorded an attack on police personnel along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, following which the police patrol vehicle taken by the assailants was recovered at the Irewole Local Government Secretariat.

Nine expended ammunition shells were also recovered from the scene.

The police said the attackers remained at large and efforts were being intensified to arrest them and recover a service rifle and 30 rounds of live ammunition allegedly taken during the attack.

In Ebonyi State, police arrested Eze Nwuguru over the alleged killing of 52-year-old Augustine Onwe Adeze.

The victim’s remains were recovered, photographed and deposited at a mortuary for autopsy as investigations continued.

In another operation in Ogun, detectives arrested two suspects over the alleged theft of construction materials and equipment from a company store.

Police said the suspects were linked to the theft after stock verification revealed several missing items.

In Ekiti State, two suspected cultists were arrested in Iyin-Ekiti following intelligence about a planned cult-related attack.

The suspects were allegedly arrested while threatening a resident, while police continued efforts to apprehend two others who fled the scene.

Meanwhile, police and other security personnel activated rescue operations following separate abduction incidents in Niger, Gombe, Kogi and Oyo states.

In Niger State, two people were abducted during an armed attack in Mashegu Local Government Area. Police and vigilantes mobilised to the scene, while an injured victim was evacuated for medical treatment.

In Gombe, police, hunters and vigilantes launched search operations following the abduction of a woman and her daughter in Funakaye Local Government Area.

Three people were also abducted from two neighbouring residences in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State. Police detectives visited and documented the scene before launching bush-combing operations to locate the victims.

In Oyo State, police, Amotekun Corps, vigilantes and local hunters mobilised following the abduction of a resident in Iseyin.

The Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad reinforced the operation, with search teams combing surrounding areas for the victim and the perpetrators.

The police said investigations into the various cases were ongoing, with the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments handling the incidents.

The Force also said operations would continue to focus on intelligence gathering, collaboration with local communities and other security agencies, as well as the apprehension of suspects still at large.
