The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the circulation of fake online recruitment portals allegedly used to enlist examination supervisors, warning that the fraudulent platforms are not linked to the council and should be disregarded.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, said NECO is not operating any unofficial recruitment portal and does not require applicants to make payments for supervisory roles.
He explained that the council had received reports of fraudulent websites requesting prospective applicants to submit personal details and academic credentials after paying certain fees, a practice he described as deceptive and criminal.
“NECO wishes to alert members of the public to the existence of fake online portals for the recruitment of examination supervisors,” the statement read.
It added that the council does not request any form of payment from teachers applying to serve as supervisors for its examinations, including the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
According to the council, the public should disregard any platform or individual demanding money in exchange for recruitment, stressing that all official processes are free and transparent.
NECO also clarified that it has transitioned from analogue recruitment procedures to a fully digital system in line with recommendations aimed at improving examination integrity and supervision.
The council noted that only eligible pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, aged 30 years and above, are qualified to apply for supervisory roles in the 2026 SSCE Internal exercise.
Interested applicants, it said, are to submit their applications only through the official portal: [https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng](https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng), warning that no third party is authorised to act on behalf of the council.
NECO stressed that the recruitment process is fully automated and designed to eliminate human interference, curb fraud, and strengthen fairness in the selection of supervisors nationwide.
The examination body further disclosed that not fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be engaged for the conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
It added that the digital recruitment system forms part of broader reforms aimed at reducing examination malpractice and enhancing credibility in the conduct of public examinations across the country.
NECO urged teachers and members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious platforms or individuals involved in recruitment scams to relevant authorities.
